Nga Parata Karaitiana/The Christian Brothers is an international Catholic religious congregation founded by Blessed Edmund Rice in 1802. Today there are Brothers in Province clusters across most continents of the globe.

In 1876 four Brothers arrived at Port Chalmers from Australia to start a school in Dunedin. They were responding to an invitation by the then Bishop of Dunedin who had been taught by the Brothers in Ireland.

In the Oceania Province, there are more than about 200–mainly very elderly–Brothers living throughout New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea.
